Solar America Showcase Announced by DOE
The US Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy announced and new grant program within the Solar America Initiative. The Initiative provides funding opportunities for industry, univiersities, and federal, state and local governments and non-governmental agencies. The Solar America Showcase is a grant program within the Initiative that offers up to $200,000 in technical assistance for entities interested in exploring the use of solar energy technologies. The funds are limited to feasibility studies only and cannot be used for purchasing or installing equipment.
The deadline for applying for the program is November 4, 2008. The DOE is targeting large-scale, high-visibility solar installations and novel solar technology or applications. The applications can include PV, solar water heating, concentrating solar power and solar space heating. The technology must be commercially-ready for large-scale applicaitons.
